Burnaby RCMP officers were busy on Sunday night after an innocent building was damaged by a driver.

Police were called out at around 8:30 p.m. last night to the corner of Kingsway and 14th Avenue, only to find an Audi luxury vehicle wedged into the side of a building.

According to RCMP, a pedestrian was crossing the road when they were hit by the driver, who then crashed into the building.

"Someone ran across the street," said Cpl. Mike Kalanj. "It was very dark."

BC Ambulance paramedics attended the crash and transported the struck pedestrian to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Burnaby RCMP closed the road for several hours while they investigated the crash.

The building is the site of the local International Union of Painters & Allied Trades.

The NOW is awaiting more details from RCMP on if charges are pending.
